BSTDB and IDBank sign €10M package to fund Armenian SMEs and trade
What's the deal? The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) and IDBankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → have signed a €10 million financing package to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and trade in Armenia.
The package splits into a €9 million SME loan and a €1 million short-term revolving trade finance facility.
It marks the first cooperation between the two institutions. The funding lets IDBank expand lending to Armenian businesses and back eligible import and export deals.
Why now? SMEs are a backbone of Armenia's economy, and access to finance remains one of the biggest barriers to growth and job creation.
"Access to finance remains essential for the growth and competitiveness of SMEs," said Dr. Serhat Köksal, president of BSTDB.
For IDBank, the deal advances a strategy of tapping international funding sources. "The partnership with BSTDB supports our strategic objective of providing Armenian businesses with broader access to international funding," said Mher Abrahamyan, chairman of the management board of IDBank.
The signal: The deal plays to IDBank's positioning as an Armenian digital banking and unified payment platform, channelling international capital towards SMEs that rely increasingly on digital financial services. For BSTDB, a corporate investor backing one of its 11 member states, the partnership extends its mandate to deepen private-sector lending and cross-border trade across the Black Sea region.
