BharatTender raises ₹1.25 crore pre-seed to build India's first structured private tender marketplace

The startup is building a structured marketplace where businesses float tenders, onboard verified vendors, receive sealed bids, sign digital contracts, and release escrow-backed payments.
Founded by Rankit Singh, Sanyam Jain, and Anshul Kochar, the platform is already live, serving startups, manufacturers, and enterprises.
Why now? While government procurement has gone digital through initiatives like GeM, private-sector sourcing still runs on phone calls, WhatsApp, spreadsheets, and personal vendor networks.
That fragmentation means poor price discovery, weak audit trails, and payment risks.
"Indian businesses lose money every day to opaque procurement not because they want to, but because there has never been infrastructure for anything better," said Singh, chief executive officer and co-founder.
The fresh capital will fund product development, customer acquisition, supplier network expansion, and AI-powered tender evaluation.
What could go wrong? Convincing businesses to abandon informal habits is no small task, and BharatTender is still early.
It has onboarded 50 businesses and 200 verified suppliers so far, with several large enterprises in talks for pilots. Scaling those numbers — and the trust required for escrow payments — will test the model.
The signal: BharatTender is betting that private-sector procurement can follow the same digitisation path as government sourcing through GeM, with companies on the platform already reporting cycle times cut by 3x and sourcing savings of 10-15%. At ₹1.25 crore ($150,000) pre-seed and just 50 businesses onboarded, however, it remains an early-stage wager on whether enterprises will trade informal vendor networks for escrow-backed, AI-evaluated bidding.
