Colosseum plans to use the money for technical upgrades, overseas subsidiaries, and global expansion.

Why now? Unicorn Bridge launched this year to build companies that can compete globally. Of 203 applicants, Colosseum beat roughly four-to-one odds.

It is also the latest rung on a government ladder: Baby Unicorn in 2023, Baby Unicorn Plus in 2024, and Pre-Unicorn in 2025.

Alongside the grant, Colosseum joins a 32,840,000,000 KRW (about $21 million) smart city project in Suwon, including 16,000,000,000 KRW in state funding.

Running until 2028, the project builds AI-based city services across Suwon Station and nearby districts. Colosseum's consortium includes Hyundai MotorDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, KiaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and the Suwon Urban Foundation.

The company will test smart logistics services such as robot delivery for traditional markets.

What could go wrong? Demonstration projects do not always scale into commercial models. Colosseum must prove its data-based fulfilment tech works in a live city before claiming a next-generation logistics standard.

The signal: Colosseum's steady climb through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' programme ladder — from Baby Unicorn in 2023 to Unicorn Bridge in 2026 — shows how Korea is using staged public funding to nurture potential global champions. With a network of more than 58 logistics centres already spanning Korea, the US, Japan, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia, the Suwon smart city demonstration gives the company a chance to prove its data-based fulfilment model in a live urban setting.
