The capital funds a network of in-orbit sensors, upcoming missions, and a new production facility in Northern Virginia.

Why now? Orbit is getting crowded and contested, and demand for real-time tracking is outpacing supply.

Founded in 2019, Scout has flown four payloads and has roughly a dozen missions planned through 2028. That includes putting its flagship Owl sensor on the inaugural flight of Blue Origin's Blue Ring spacecraft.

The second close follows an initial Series A in May 2026, led by Washington Harbour Partners.

What could go wrong? Scout is betting on a platform-agnostic model, supplying sensors across many spacecraft rather than building the full hardware stack itself.

That keeps it lean, but it also means relying on partners' launch schedules and platforms it does not control. Any missed mission could stall deployment.

The signal: Scout has reached breakout stage by widening its syndicate rather than chasing a single lead, pulling in dual-use specialists like Long Knife alongside VTC Ventures to fund its push toward becoming a trusted, platform-agnostic SDA supplier. With government-linked backers such as Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation already onboard, the round underscores how space domain awareness sits squarely at the overlap of commercial demand and national security priorities.
