Nura Bio gets $73.8M to advance SARM1 inhibitors for neurodegeneration

What's the deal? Nura Bio, a biotech focused on neurodegenerative disease, said it has raised $73.8 million in a Series B round.

The company will use the money to push two programs through early clinical trials. Both target SARM1, an enzyme that drives nerve degeneration.

Why now? SARM1 inhibitors have emerged as a promising route to slow or stop nerve damage across multiple conditions.

Funding fresh clinical programs lets Nura test that approach in patients, the key step toward proving its science works.

What could go wrong? Early clinical trials are where many neuroscience drugs fail. The brain remains one of the hardest areas to develop treatments for, and SARM1 is still a relatively unproven target.

The signal: Nura Bio's late-stage profile makes this Series B a pivotal test of whether its neuroprotection science can hold up in patients, with two SARM1 programs now headed into early clinical trials. For a company built on halting disease before it progresses too far, the round buys the runway to prove that thesis against one of biopharma's toughest targets.
