Blyyd raises $5.4M from Meridiam to scale its electric yard tractors

What's the deal? Lyon-based startup BlyydDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised $5.4 million from MeridiamDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → to industrialise its next-generation electric vehicles and expand abroad.

The company makes electric yard tractors, already deployed across more than 100 logistics sites. Over 160 units are in operation.

Its clients include CarrefourDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Leroy MerlinDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, GeodisDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Kuehne+NagelDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

Why now? Blyyd's previous setup collapsed when its vehicles' exclusive distributor, "ATM by GaussinDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →," wound down. Gaussin entered judicial liquidation at the end of 2024.

The Meridiam deal gives Blyyd a fresh partner with deep reach in transport and logistics infrastructure.

Chief executive officer Damien Gambey said the partnership would help Blyyd enter a new phase through industrial and commercial synergies, while continuing to deliver low-emission solutions.

What could go wrong? Scaling hardware is costly, and Blyyd's last distribution partner ended in liquidation. Building its own industrial and commercial muscle is a heavier lift than relying on a third party.

The signal: Meridiam, an investment fund channelling this round through its Green Impact Growth Fund, is backing an early-stage company in the unglamorous corners of logistics decarbonisation. Yard tractors rarely make headlines, but they run constantly at warehouses and ports — and the fund's existing portfolio, which includes peer-to-peer delivery platform Shopopop, signals a broader bet on the energy and ecological transition across transport infrastructure.
