IDfy raises ~$23M late-stage round at $256.4M valuation to scale risk detection
What's the deal? Mumbai-based digital identity verification startup IDfy has raised about $23 million in a late-stage round at a $256.4 million post-money valuation.
An investor confirms the round closed in June 2026. The funds will help scale the firm's risk-detection tools.
Founded by Ashok Hariharan in 2011, IDfy offers customer onboarding, fraud detection, risk management, and compliance solutions. It employs 600 people across seven countries, including India, Singapore, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Why now? Financial documents reviewed by Tech in Asia show IDfy has grown for four straight years while staying profitable or at breakeven.
What sets it apart from conventional know-your-customer (KYC) providers is the scale of risk data it has gathered, investors say. Its CrimeCheck subsidiary has indexed more than 330 million court cases and 30 million police records across India, spanning high courts, district courts, and tribunals in multiple languages.
The firm has also built VehiClear, a vehicle-risk product with 12 million records pulled from court databases and e-FIRs using AI. It flags accidents and police seizures that standard checks may miss.
Its OneRisk platform analyses more than 500 risk signals across individuals, businesses, and assets, helping clients assess legal, financial, and reputational risk before lending, hiring, or onboarding.
What could go wrong? IDfy relies heavily on public legal and police records. Any tightening of data access rules or privacy regulation across its markets could limit the very edge that distinguishes it.
It also serves heavily regulated sectors, from banking to insurance, where compliance demands are high and constantly shifting.
The signal: IDfy's raise points to a market moving beyond basic identity checks toward deeper risk intelligence, with the late-stage startup positioning its court-records edge as the differentiator. As fraud grows more sophisticated, clients including AmazonDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Airbnb, UnileverDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and HDFC BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → increasingly want legal and reputational red flags surfaced before onboarding a customer or approving a loan.
