Selectika raises seed round from Genaxis to expand community group-buying platform

What's the deal? SelectikaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a South Korean startup that runs Manman Market — a location-based group buying platform — has closed a seed round from accelerator GenaxisDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The platform targets large residential apartment complexes, connecting communities with groceries, fresh produce, and household goods at lower prices.

Manman Market lets customers pre-order items online and pick them up at nearby offline hubs. By sourcing directly from manufacturers and only fulfilling orders after purchase commitments are confirmed, it cuts out distribution markups and delivery fees.

Why now? Selectika validated demand through B2B wholesale distribution to existing group buying platforms before launching Manman Market as a direct-to-consumer offering. Since opening its first location at Pyeongchon Irvine First in 2025, it has signed contracts for 30 store locations.

The seed funding will help the company standardise store operations, expand its private-label product lineup, and build a franchise model targeting apartment complexes across South Korea.

What could go wrong? Group buying platforms depend on consistent community engagement — if order volumes drop at any given location, the economics can unravel quickly. Scaling a franchise model that relies on neighbourhood density and social cohesion also presents challenges in less tightly knit communities.

The signal: Selectika sits at the intersection of two trends: hyperlocal commerce and community-driven purchasing. Rather than competing on speed like delivery apps, it competes on price by aggregating demand before fulfilling orders — a model that echoes group buying platforms gaining traction across Asia.

Genaxis said it was drawn to the startup's methodical approach. "Selectika is a team that first validated the demand and limitations of the local group buying market through B2B distribution, and is now converting that insight into its own brand and a standardised operating model," the firm said.
