TruNativ raises $30M Series A led by OrbiMed
What's the deal? Mumbai-based nutrition startup TruNativ has raised $30 million in a Series A round led by healthcare investment firm OrbiMed. The company announced the funding on 17 June 2026.
TruNativ said it will use the proceeds to expand distribution across India and grow its ingredients business, which supplies other brands. OrbiMed executives Dr. Sunny Sharma and Sumona Chakraborty will join the company's board.
The round included both primary investment and secondary share sales by early investors.
Why now? India's nutraceuticals market is projected to grow 10.3% annually from 2026 to 2033, with functional foods and beverages accounting for the largest share in 2025. TruNativ appears well positioned to ride that wave.
Founded in 2019, the company started with a sugar-replacement product before expanding into broader nutrition categories.
What could go wrong? India's nutrition and wellness space is increasingly crowded, with both domestic startups and global players competing for consumer attention. Scaling distribution across a vast and fragmented market like India is notoriously difficult — and capital-intensive.
Secondary share sales in an early-stage round can also signal that some investors wanted an exit sooner rather than later.
The signal: A $30 million Series A from a specialist healthcare investor like OrbiMed signals growing institutional confidence in India's consumer nutrition sector. As health-conscious spending rises across the country, expect more capital to flow into startups bridging the gap between food and wellness.
