SmartHelio secures strategic investment from quantumEDGE Ventures to advance Autonomous Energy Operations

Why now? As solar, battery storage, electric vehicles, and distributed energy resources scale worldwide, operational complexity is outpacing what human teams can manage alone. Energy operators face growing data volumes, labour shortages, grid constraints, and increasingly interconnected systems.
"Human operators alone cannot manage this complexity at scale," said Govinda Upadhyay, SmartHelio's founder and chief executive officer. "We believe AI agents will become an essential part of future energy operations."
What could go wrong? AI in critical infrastructure raises trust and governance concerns. SmartHelio says it combines physics-informed intelligence, explainability, and human oversight to address this — but convincing risk-averse utilities to hand operational tasks to AI agents remains a hard sell. The MENA expansion also brings regulatory and market complexity that could slow deployment.
