The company has built a modular operating system that lets enterprises centrally manage both third-party AI applications and their own tools built on large language models. Security, governance, compliance, and observability are configured once through a single connection point.
"The first wave of AI adoption was built on isolated solutions. Now companies need governance, intelligent management, security, and observability to work as a unified system," said Daniel Arenas, co-chief executive officer and co-founder of Optiak.
Why now? Enterprises are under pressure to deploy AI at scale without losing operational control or compromising security. Two common pitfalls are emerging: "shadow AI," where teams use tools without IT oversight, and rigid centralisation around a single vendor or costly in-house platforms.
The stakes are real. According to Cisco and IBM data, 46% of companies have experienced internal data leaks from unsupervised AI use, and shadow AI accounts for 20% of generative AI-related security breaches. Meanwhile, maintaining proprietary platforms can cost 15% to 30% of initial development expenses annually, according to RiseUp Labs.
What could go wrong? Optiak enters a crowded field where major cloud providers and established software companies are racing to offer similar governance and orchestration layers. Convincing large enterprises to adopt yet another platform — especially from a pre-seed startup — will require proving clear cost and security advantages over incumbents.
The fast-evolving nature of AI models and tooling also means Optiak's platform must keep pace with constant change, a significant engineering challenge for a young company.
The signal: This round reflects a broader market shift from experimenting with individual AI tools to managing AI as core infrastructure. As enterprises move past pilots and into production, the need for centralised governance, cost optimisation, and compliance is becoming acute — particularly in the EU, where regulatory requirements like the AI Act add complexity.
Optiak's founding team brings experience from Amazon, Google, DeepMind, and Hugging Face. The company is led by co-chief executive officers Daniel Arenas and Ignacio Gamoneda, alongside chief technology officer Borja Balle.
