Genesis Digital Solutions raises €3.36M seed led by Quadrantis Capital
What's the deal? Genesis Digital SolutionsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Portuguese enterprise AI company, has closed a $3,360,000 seed round led by Quadrantis CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The funding will go entirely toward R&D to accelerate its Genesis AI platform, which deploys AI agents for public and private sector organisations.
Founded in 2018, the company claims a notable first: deploying Azure OpenAI in European public administration, through a digital justice guide for Portugal's Ministry of Justice. It also serves clients including the Santo António Hospital Centre and Portugal's employment institute.
Why now? Genesis is using the round to enter a new growth phase, expanding geographically into the MENA region. It already has operations in the UAE.
"Three years ago, nobody at Genesis knew what an AI agent was. Today we have several working in Portuguese organisations, with proven cases in public administration and private companies," said Guido Santos, chief executive officer. "This investment lets us deepen the technology and open the path to the next generation of the platform — multi-cloud, multi-LLM, with data sovereignty as an architectural principle."
What could go wrong? Competing internationally from Portugal against better-funded AI agent startups is a tall order. The enterprise AI space is crowded, and scaling into MENA brings regulatory and cultural complexity. Relying on a single seed round to fund both deep R&D and geographic expansion could stretch resources thin.
The signal: Genesis's seed round was channelled through SIFIDE — Portugal's R&D tax incentive scheme — via Quadrantis Capital, an investment fund structure that lets corporates back early-stage tech while recouping fiscal credits. It's a financing mechanism that has quietly become a meaningful source of seed capital for Portuguese startups, particularly those with deep technical R&D, and it highlights how southern European ecosystems are finding creative pathways to fund enterprise AI beyond traditional VC.
