Inflexion takes majority stake in Ranger Fire & Security

What's the deal? InflexionDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a European mid-market private equity firm, has made a majority investment in Ranger Fire & Security, a fire and security services platform operating across the UK and Ireland. The deal was made through Inflexion Enterprise Fund VI, the firm's lower mid-market fund.

Ranger provides fire and security services as a one-stop shop for businesses, charities, and public sector organisations. It has acquired 25 businesses to date, employs more than 500 people, and generates revenues north of £75M.

Existing investor Hyperion Equity Partners is making a substantial re-investment alongside Inflexion to support Ranger's long-term goals.

Why now? Ranger has built a roll-up model — buying high-performing local firms and integrating them onto a single national platform. The Inflexion investment is designed to accelerate that acquisition strategy and scale operations, with an eye on eventual expansion into continental Europe.

Inflexion already has sector expertise through its investments in Noventis Safety, which makes test and measurement solutions for fire protection, and Marioff, a global leader in water mist fire suppression.

"The investment by Inflexion is a strong endorsement of our strategy and the momentum we have built," said Mark Bridges, Ranger's chief executive officer. "With their support and expertise we can accelerate our plans, scale faster and continue building a leading one-stop shop for fire and security services."

What could go wrong? Acquisition-heavy roll-up strategies carry integration risk. Combining 25-plus local businesses onto one platform while maintaining their reputations for customer service is no small feat — and the pace is set to increase. Expanding into continental Europe would add regulatory complexity and cultural differences to an already demanding playbook.

Competition in UK fire and security services is fierce, with several PE-backed platforms chasing the same targets. Rising valuations for quality local businesses could squeeze returns.

The signal: Dealroom still classifies Ranger as "early stage," yet the platform already counts 25 acquisitions, 500-plus staff, and revenues above £75 million — a gap that underscores how quickly PE-fuelled roll-ups can outgrow conventional startup staging. Inflexion's repeat bets on fire safety through Noventis and Marioff suggest the firm sees a durable, regulation-driven consolidation wave, not a one-off opportunity.
