Tangently raises €275,000 angel round

What's the deal? Tangently, a Finnish fintech startup building an AI-powered financial controller platform, has closed a €275,000 angel round. Six angel investors backed the company, with Kanssasijoitusrahasto matching the round through InnovestorDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s co-investment programme.

The startup connects a company's accounting system, CRM, and payment tools to automatically build a live three-statement financial model in real time. It aims to replace manual reporting cycles for SMEs and startups that can't afford a full-time chief financial officer.

Why now? A FiBAN pitch event in February proved the catalyst. "Pitching at FiBAN's event was genuinely important for us — we met several of our angels there, and those conversations directly led to investments closing," said Pekka Kinnunen, chief executive and co-founder.

The event also connected Tangently with Innovestor, whose co-investment fund joined the round. Using FiBAN's standardised investment agreement templates helped accelerate the process — from the February pitch to money in the bank, the round closed quickly despite a formal legal due diligence step in between.

What could go wrong? Tangently enters a crowded space. AI-driven financial tools for SMEs are proliferating, and larger incumbents with deeper pockets are adding similar features. A €275K angel round gives the company limited runway to prove product-market fit before it needs to raise again.

Winning trust with financial data is also no small task. SMEs must feel confident handing over access to their accounting, CRM, and payment systems — any security or accuracy misstep could be fatal for adoption.

The signal: Tangently's round illustrates how Finland's early-stage infrastructure — FiBAN's angel network paired with Kanssasijoitusrahasto's government-backed co-investment matching — continues to lower the barrier for pre-seed startups to secure first funding. The "virtual CFO" niche is heating up across Europe, but at just €275K and an early stage classification on Dealroom, Tangently will need to move fast to demonstrate traction before better-capitalised competitors close the gap.
