Definic raises €2.5M seed to fix corporate IT procurement
What's the deal? Definic, a Slovak vendor intelligence platform formerly known as Nordics, has closed a $2.5M seed round to help large corporations make smarter IT purchasing decisions. The round was led by JT Ventures, with participation from Seed StarterDealroom has a profile for this one. Founded by three childhood friends from Košice in eastern Slovakia — Robert Dečman, Lukáš Řezanina, and Michal Mušinka — Definic uses AI to analyse thousands of data points on IT vendors, replacing gut-feel procurement with evidence-based matching. It already counts Erste Digital, Siemens HealthineersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Swiss investment firm Quantica Capital among its clients.
The funds will go toward product development and expansion into the DACH region, the UK, and the US, where the company is setting up a base in New York's financial district.
Why now? Corporate IT procurement is notoriously broken. Purchasing teams optimise for cost and risk; IT teams care about technical competence. The two groups speak different languages, and vendor selection often defaults to hourly rates or personal connections — leading to budget overruns and poor outcomes.
Definic's results speak to the urgency. One major European banking group used the platform to identify over 90 relevant vendors, cutting its average tender process from six weeks to two. In the first five months of 2026, the bank contracted €5.4M worth of work through the system and saved a documented €1.2M against historical rates.
What could go wrong? Definic's 15-person team is still small relative to its ambitions spanning three continents. Scaling into the US market from Central Europe is notoriously difficult, and competing against entrenched procurement tools and consultancies will require significant sales investment.
The platform's value also hinges on data quality. As it enters new markets, building a sufficiently deep and accurate vendor database will be critical — and time-consuming.
The signal: AI-driven procurement tools are gaining traction as enterprises look for concrete, measurable ways to cut costs. Definic sits at the intersection of two hot themes: AI applied to enterprise workflows, and the push for transparency in corporate spending.
"We're convinced Definic has the potential to set a new standard for the entire industry," said Jan Sova from JT Ventures. The backing of a major bank's investment arm suggests the platform is solving a pain point that financial institutions feel acutely — and are willing to bet on from both the investor and customer side.
