Mt Malcolm Mines raises A$1.03M to fund WA gold mill study

What's the deal? Mt Malcolm Mines (ASX:M2M) has raised A$1.03 million through a non-renounceable rights issue to fund a mill study at its gold project in Western Australia. Mahe CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the raise, with new shares issued on June 12.

The company issued 148.24 million shares — 61.35 million from subscriptions and 86.89 million from the shortfall placement.

Why now? The funds will go toward assessing the technical and economic feasibility of building a 500,000-tonne-per-annum processing facility in the Leonora region. Mt Malcolm is also advancing exploration for gold, volcanic massive sulphides, and rare earth elements at its Malcolm gold project in the central-eastern goldfields.

What could go wrong? The shortfall — roughly 59% of total shares issued — suggests limited appetite among existing shareholders. A mill study is still early-stage work; a positive feasibility outcome is far from guaranteed, and building processing infrastructure in remote Western Australia carries significant capital and logistical risk.

The signal: Mt Malcolm Mines remains at the early stage, and the A$1 million raise — led by investment fund Mahe Capital — underscores how micro-cap gold explorers are leaning on specialist capital markets advisers to bridge funding gaps. The company's proximity to world-class producers in the central-eastern goldfields could prove a strategic advantage if the mill study yields positive results, but converting tenement packages into operating infrastructure is a capital-intensive leap that will likely require significantly larger follow-on raises.
