Try Dealroom → Ventures, the investment arm of iGaming company Vyking, has made a seed investment in PrizeKingsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a technology-led prize draw platform targeting fast-growing entertainment markets. The deal, announced in June 2025, will support PrizeKings as it develops its proprietary technology and expands internationally.
PrizeKings was founded by senior gaming executives with experience building and operating regulated entertainment brands globally. It creates competition platforms centred on life-changing prizes, auditable draw processes, and transparent mechanics.
South Africa is the company's first core market, with the UK forming part of its international growth strategy.
Why now? Prize draws are professionalising as a category, moving from informal competitions toward scalable, technology-driven platforms. PrizeKings is positioning itself to capitalise on that shift by building locally relevant experiences — tailored to each market's culture and expectations — rather than relying on generic headline prizes.
For Vyking Ventures, the deal aligns with its thesis of backing companies at the intersection of gaming, technology, and next-generation player engagement. The fund draws on Vyking's experience in iGaming, crypto-native infrastructure, and platform engineering.
"Prize draws are becoming a more professional, scalable, and locally relevant category, and PrizeKings has the leadership, platform, and operational mindset to help shape that next phase," said Klaus Walsberger, founder at Vyking.
What could go wrong? Prize draw platforms operate in a regulatory grey zone in many jurisdictions — not quite gambling, but subject to advertising standards, consumer protection laws, and local licensing requirements that vary widely. Scaling across markets like South Africa and the UK means navigating two very different regulatory environments.
The category also faces a trust deficit. Consumers are often sceptical of online competitions, and any fulfilment failures or transparency issues could undermine the credibility PrizeKings is trying to build.
The signal: PrizeKings remains at the early stage, entering a prize draw category that is still fragmented and largely unprofessionalised — offering first-mover advantages but also the burden of building consumer trust from scratch. Vyking Ventures' strategic backing, rooted in iGaming operations rather than purely financial investment, suggests a bet that regulated-market expertise will be the differentiator as prize draw platforms face increasing scrutiny across jurisdictions.
