Crìa Technologies wins a 2026 W.A. de Vigier Award

What's the deal? Crìa Technologies, a Geneva-area startup that makes high-vacuum insulated containers for transporting sensitive biological materials, has won the 2026 W.A. de Vigier Award — Switzerland's oldest prize for young entrepreneurs. The company, led by chief executive Giancarlo Mattiello, receives CHF 120,000 in seed funding.

Crìa was one of five winners selected from more than 200 applicants. The awards were presented on June 10 at a ceremony in Solothurn. The total prize pool this year reached CHF 700,000.

The startup's core product, Crìa Go, is a shoulder-carriable, cabin-compatible container that uses reusable ice packs instead of dry ice to deliver cryogenic-level performance.
