ThruFlo Endovascular raises seed to build first purpose-built flow diverter for bifurcation aneurysms

What's the deal? ThruFlo Endovascular has closed a seed funding round to develop what it says is the first purpose-built flow diverter designed specifically for bifurcation aneurysms — a particularly tricky type of brain aneurysm that occurs where blood vessels branch.

Flow diverters are mesh-like implants placed inside blood vessels to redirect blood flow away from aneurysms, causing them to shrink over time. Current devices weren't designed for bifurcation sites, where maintaining blood flow through branching vessels is critical.
