Harbinger wins In-Q-Tel backing in push into defence

What's the deal? Harbinger, the hybrid-electric vehicle startup, has launched a dedicated defense division called Praesidia and secured backing from In-Q-Tel, the CIA's venture arm. The company says it can produce thousands of unmanned vehicles a year for national-security customers.

Why now? Harbinger raised $160 million in November, bringing its total funding to $358 million, and recently partnered with American Rheinmetall — giving it both the capital and the prime-contractor relationships needed to sell into the Defence Department.
