Rotomate raises €2.1M pre-seed to automate industrial reliability analysis

What's the deal? Finnish startup Rotomate has raised €2.1M in pre-seed funding to build AI software that helps industrial companies keep their equipment running. The round was led by KvantedDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, with participation from Robin CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Founded in 2024 by Mikko Kuusisto and Dr Jesse Miettinen, Rotomate acts as an AI-powered reliability assistant. It continuously analyses machine data, maintenance records, and historical context — then delivers root-cause analysis and recommended actions rather than just alerts.

Why now? Industrial plants have spent heavily on sensors and condition monitoring systems, but there aren't enough specialists to interpret the flood of data these systems produce. Maintenance teams struggle to tell which alerts need immediate action and which can wait.

"Improving industrial reliability is often constrained not by a lack of data but by the limited capacity of experts to continuously analyse and act on it," said Kuusisto. "We built Rotomate to scale that expertise, so that every plant can act on the most up-to-date data around the clock."

What could go wrong? Rotomate is entering a crowded industrial AI market where incumbents already offer predictive maintenance tools. Convincing risk-averse industrial operators to trust automated recommendations — especially for critical equipment — is a steep hill to climb. The company is also early-stage, with product development and international expansion still ahead.

The signal: The round reflects growing investor appetite for vertical AI applications that solve specific, high-value problems rather than building general-purpose tools. Industrial maintenance is a massive cost centre — unplanned downtime can run into millions per incident — and the expert shortage isn't going away. Rotomate is betting that AI can democratise reliability expertise across plants worldwide, a thesis that aligns with the broader trend of AI augmenting scarce human specialists rather than replacing them outright.

The funding will go towards product development, international expansion, and hiring across engineering, product, and commercial teams.
