QTREX Quantum awarded ~$1M Israel Innovation Authority grant to develop quantum-connectivity dielectric

What's the deal? QTREX Quantum (Nasdaq: QTEX), an Israel-based company focused on additively manufactured electronics for quantum computing, has received an approximately $1 million grant from the Israel Innovation AuthorityDealroom has a profile for this one. The funding will support development of what QTREX calls the world's first purpose-built dielectric material designed for high-density, low-loss RF signal routing in superconducting quantum computing systems.

The company, headquartered in Nes Ziona, is engineering the material as a native layer within its quantum connectivity architecture — meaning the dielectric, conductor, and 3D geometry are built together rather than cobbled from off-the-shelf parts.

Why now? As superconducting quantum processors add more qubits, connectivity is becoming a system-level bottleneck. More qubits demand more RF lines, tighter packaging, cleaner signal paths, and lower thermal impact inside cryogenic environments. Conventional wiring simply can't keep up.

"Superconducting quantum computers cannot scale on conventional wiring architecture," said chief executive officer Dagi Ben-Noon. "Scalable quantum computing requires a new connectivity architecture, and we are building it from the materials level up."

What could go wrong? QTREX is pre-revenue on the quantum side and still in the development phase. Translating a government-funded research programme into commercial products — and convincing major quantum hardware companies to adopt a new materials platform — is a long road with no guaranteed outcome. The quantum computing market itself remains nascent, with timelines for large-scale deployment still uncertain.

The company also carries complexity from its earlier life as a medical technology firm, maintaining respiratory support and blood monitoring platforms alongside its quantum pivot.

The signal: The IIA grant underscores how governments are increasingly channelling funds into the unglamorous but essential infrastructure layers quantum computing needs to scale. The Israel Innovation Authority, classified by Dealroom as an investment fund, has a broad mandate to back deep-tech ventures — and its bet here suggests that materials-level connectivity, not just qubit counts, is gaining recognition as a critical bottleneck worth de-risking with public money.
