Leumi UK backs LNT care home expansion with £100M facility
What's the deal? Leumi UK has provided a £100M revolving credit facility to LNT Care DevelopmentsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the UK's largest care home developer, to support its nationwide expansion. It is Leumi UK's biggest healthcare financing transaction to date.
LNT has developed more than 250 sites representing over 16,500 beds. With the new facility, it aims to deliver 15 to 20 additional care homes over the next three years.
The flexible facility covers land acquisition, development, and investment activity within LNT's pipeline. It will initially support five schemes totalling 330 beds across six sites in Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Devon, Gloucestershire, Cheshire, and Tyne and Wear.
Why now? New care home supply in the UK remains constrained by rising development and operating costs, while a significant share of existing stock is outdated. Demand is expected to grow steadily, driven by the country's ageing population and increasing care needs among older age groups.
"We have ambitious growth plans and Leumi UK is an important funding partner as we continue to develop high-quality, best-in-class care facilities across the UK," said Matt Lowe, chief executive at LNT Care Developments.
What could go wrong? The same cost pressures squeezing existing care home supply could also weigh on LNT's expansion plans. Construction costs, labour shortages, and regulatory requirements all pose risks to the timeline and economics of new builds. A downturn in government funding or local authority budgets could further complicate the picture.
The signal: Leumi UK's record healthcare facility underscores a widening opportunity in UK care infrastructure, where constrained new supply and ageing existing stock are creating a financing gap for developers with scale. LNT's mature status and track record of over 250 developed sites position it as the kind of proven platform that institutional and corporate lenders are increasingly willing to back with flexible, large-ticket facilities — even as broader real estate lending remains cautious.
