Kaicore Tech raises several hundred million yuan from state-backed Xinke Industry Fund
What's the deal? Kaicore Tech (Beijing Kaixin Micro Technology), a Chinese chipmaker specialising in automotive-grade high-precision positioning chips, has received a strategic investment of several hundred million yuan from Xinke Industry Fund, a vehicle of state-owned China Information and Communication Technology Group (CICT).
The two parties plan to collaborate on advancing high-precision positioning technology and its commercial applications.
Why now? Demand for precise positioning chips is surging as autonomous driving, drones, and intelligent robotics move from prototype to mass deployment. Kaicore's open, automotive-grade fusion positioning chip platform sits at the intersection of all three markets — making it a natural fit for CICT's strategic ambitions in next-generation connected infrastructure.
The signal: The deal underscores China's continued push to build domestic capability in critical semiconductor niches. State-backed funds are increasingly targeting companies that supply the foundational hardware layer for autonomous systems, reflecting a broader bet that positioning chips will be as essential to smart mobility as processors are to computing.
