TALYS Group secures €9M IFC debt facility

What's the deal? Enexus Finance has advised Malagasy conglomerate Talys GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → on securing a €9 million debt facility from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The funding will support the expansion of Talys's retail and distribution businesses across Madagascar.

The financing targets several core operations, including Sanifer — one of Madagascar's largest importers and distributors of construction materials and home improvement products — and KiboDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the group's cash-and-carry grocery retail business. The money is also expected to fund new store openings across the country.

Talys Group operates across distribution, e-commerce, real estate, hospitality, and leisure, with brands including Sanifer, Kibo, Zoma, Artemis, Radisson, and Cinepax.

Why now? Madagascar remains a market where access to long-term financing is limited. "IFC's commitment to Talys Group reflects confidence in both the company's track record and its role in improving access to essential products through formal retail and distribution networks," said Julien Lefilleur, managing partner at Enexus Finance.

The investment is expected to support job creation and further formalisation of retail and distribution markets in the country.

What could go wrong? Madagascar's limited financing infrastructure and broader economic vulnerabilities pose ongoing risks. Expanding retail operations in a market with constrained consumer spending and underdeveloped supply chains requires sustained capital — and the €9 million facility, while significant, may only go so far.

The signal: Talys Group's "breakout" growth stage, as classified by Dealroom, underscores a conglomerate moving beyond its established base and into a phase of accelerated expansion — and IFC's willingness to back that trajectory with a structured debt facility speaks to rising institutional appetite for frontier consumer markets. With formal retail networks still nascent across Madagascar, the deal positions Talys to capture outsized share in construction materials and grocery distribution as the country's consumer economy develops.
