The startup, which has raised $21M to date, plans to use the fresh capital to expand into Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the US.

Founded in 2020 by Nimish Goel and Devender Bindal, TrueFan AI started as a celebrity engagement platform before pivoting to enterprise AI. It now offers a generative AI video platform that creates hyper-personalised videos featuring celebrities and brands for enterprise clients.

"Our key investment priorities are distribution and geographic expansion," cofounder Goel said.

Why now? TrueFan AI's pivot to enterprise AI began in early 2024, with Zomato as its first customer. The startup has since grown to more than 100 enterprise clients across BFSI, healthcare, consumer goods, and media — including Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, Cipla, and BharatPe.

The numbers tell a compelling story. For the financial year ended March 31, 2025, it reported 131% revenue growth to ₹17.1 Cr, while losses fell 37% to ₹8.8 Cr. Goel claims burn is now just 10% of revenue.

The broader shift matters too. ChatGPT's launch in late 2022 accelerated acceptance of AI-generated content, reinforcing the founders' belief that generative AI could unlock a much larger opportunity beyond celebrity engagement.

What could go wrong? TrueFan AI competes with VideoVerse, InVideo Enterprise, and Dubverse in the AI video creation market — a space that's getting crowded fast. Expanding into multiple new geographies simultaneously adds execution risk, particularly for a startup still posting losses.

There's also the trust question. AI-generated celebrity videos sit in a grey area around deepfakes and consent. As the startup scales, managing rights and brand safety across markets with different regulatory frameworks will be a growing challenge.

The signal: TrueFan AI's pivot from consumer celebrity engagement to enterprise AI video — and the speed at which it scaled to over 100 clients — underscores how quickly Indian enterprises are adopting generative AI for marketing personalisation. Lead investor Baring Private Equity Partners India, a dedicated investment fund rather than a typical early-stage VC, backing an early-growth startup at Series A suggests confidence that AI-generated video is maturing beyond novelty into core enterprise infrastructure.
