OneReg raises $4.4M to bring aviation compliance into the digital age
What's the deal? OneReg, a New Zealand-based aviation compliance platform, has closed a $4.4M (NZ$7.5M) Series A round. The raise was co-led by Altered Capital (NZ) and Co:Act Capital (Australia), with additional participation from UK and US-based strategic investors. The startup's platform gives airports and airlines a centralised system for managing regulatory compliance — replacing what has traditionally been a fragmented, manual process.
OneReg says it has achieved triple-digit revenue growth and counts Dubai Airport — the world's largest international airport — and Air New Zealand's engineering and maintenance divisions among its customers.
Why now? Aviation compliance is getting more complex. Airports and airlines face mounting regulatory and cost pressures across multiple jurisdictions. OneReg says the funding will go toward expanding into the UK and Europe, where co-founder Carly Waddleton has already relocated to build an on-the-ground team.
The company now has staff in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Geneva, and Dubai — a footprint that mirrors the global nature of aviation regulation.
What could go wrong? Aviation is a heavily regulated, risk-averse industry where procurement cycles can be long and trust is hard-won. Scaling a compliance platform globally means navigating different regulatory regimes and earning buy-in from national aviation authorities — no small feat for a startup on a $4.4M raise.
Competition from incumbent enterprise software providers or larger govtech platforms could also pose a challenge as the category matures.
The signal: OneReg fits into a broader wave of vertical SaaS companies tackling compliance in traditionally paper-heavy industries. The fact that a New Zealand startup can win Dubai Airport as a customer speaks to how borderless software distribution has become — and how underserved aviation compliance has been.
"Aviation compliance needs a modern, shared infrastructure between operators and regulators — and this is the team that's building it," said Ash Lambert, partner at Co:Act Capital.
The raise is modest by global standards, but the early traction at marquee airports suggests OneReg is building something the industry actually wants. If it can convert that demand into durable contracts across regions, it will have a strong foundation for a much larger round.
