SiliXon raises $1.5M to bring AI-powered circuit board design to Europe

What's the deal? SiliXon, a startup using AI to streamline printed circuit board (PCB) design, has raised $1.5M in funding. The company lets engineers design circuit boards using AI prompts, aiming to dramatically speed up a process that traditionally requires deep specialist knowledge and weeks of manual work.

The round was backed by AntlerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and SystemOne, among others. SiliXon wants to use the capital to refine its AI-driven design tools and help bring electronics manufacturing capacity back to Europe.

Why now? Geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions have made European reliance on Asian electronics manufacturing a growing concern. The push to reshore production has gained momentum across the continent, but Europe lacks the engineering workforce to scale PCB design the traditional way.

AI offers a shortcut. By letting engineers generate circuit board layouts through prompts rather than painstaking manual design, SiliXon could help bridge the talent gap that has long kept European hardware development dependent on overseas partners.

What could go wrong? PCB design is a safety-critical discipline — errors can cause device failures, overheating, or worse. Trusting AI-generated layouts requires rigorous validation, and convincing hardware engineers to adopt prompt-based workflows could prove difficult in a field known for its conservatism.

The $1.5M raise is also modest by any standard. Competing with established electronic design automation giants like Cadence and Altium will demand significantly more capital and rapid product maturation.

The signal: Antler's involvement is notable — the early-stage fund has built a reputation for backing pre-seed and seed-stage companies across dozens of markets, giving SiliXon access to a broad global network as it targets Europe's reshoring ambitions. The pairing with SystemOne, a corporate investor, suggests early industry validation for the AI-driven approach in a sector where incumbents like Cadence and Altium have dominated for decades.
