Indian fruit-snack startup Nothing But lands seed round from notable founders
What's the deal? Nothing ButDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an Indian startup making freeze-dried fruit snacks, has raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round. The round was led by Atul Rajani and Deeksha Rajani, co-founders of The Be Life, alongside Sifat Khurana, founder and chief business officer of Innovist, and Dhruv Bhasin, co-founder of Arata.
Gaurav Khatri, chief executive officer and co-founder of Noise, and Saurav Adlakha, founder and chief operating officer of DailyObjects, also participated.
The funds will go toward strengthening manufacturing and supply capabilities, expanding distribution across quick commerce and online marketplaces, and developing new products.
Why now? Launched in 2025, Nothing But is entering a fast-growing market. India's healthy snacking segment is estimated to be worth more than ₹21,000 crore within a broader packaged snacks market of nearly ₹37,000 crore, according to research cited by the company.
The startup's lineup includes freeze-dried mango, strawberry, banana, pineapple, and mixed-fruit variants across multiple SKUs. It says its freeze-drying process retains up to 97% of a fruit's nutritional value while extending shelf life — with no added sugar, preservatives, flavours, or additives.
What could go wrong? The healthy snacking space in India is increasingly crowded, with both homegrown brands and global players competing for shelf space. Freeze-dried snacks remain a niche category, and convincing price-sensitive Indian consumers to pay a premium over traditional snacks could prove challenging.
Scaling manufacturing for freeze-dried products also requires specialised, capital-intensive equipment — a hurdle for an early-stage company with undisclosed funding.
The signal: The investor roster — stacked with founders of consumer brands like Noise, DailyObjects, and Arata — reflects a growing trend of operator-angels backing the next wave of Indian direct-to-consumer startups. Nothing But's bet on freeze-dried fruit mirrors a broader global shift toward clean-label, minimally processed snacks, and if quick commerce platforms continue their rapid expansion in India, niche healthy brands stand to benefit from impulse-buy visibility without the cost of building their own retail footprint.
