BNP Paribas Développement takes minority stake in French IT firm Groupe 2J

What's the deal? BNP Paribas Développement has acquired a minority stake in Groupe 2J, a French IT services and digital transformation company, through a primary leveraged buyout. Nexia S&A advised BNP Paribas Développement on financial and tax due diligence for the transaction.

Groupe 2J, founded in 2010 and based in Rosny-sous-Bois in the Île-de-France region, generated €21M in turnover in 2025 and employs 70 people. It serves nearly 4,600 clients — primarily SMEs and mid-caps — with an integrated offering spanning IT, telecom, office automation, cybersecurity, and electronic document management.

The company also operates in Hauts-de-France and Normandy. BNP Paribas Développement will support the group's growth strategy while leaving control with the founders.

Why now? Groupe 2J has already completed several targeted acquisitions in telecoms and digital services, and this investment is designed to accelerate that buy-and-build strategy. The deal should help the company expand its geographical footprint and deepen expertise in high-demand areas like telecoms and cybersecurity.

What could go wrong? Acquisition-led growth strategies carry integration risk, especially for a 70-person firm juggling multiple service lines. The French SME IT services market is competitive, and scaling through bolt-on deals requires disciplined execution to avoid overpaying or diluting service quality.

The signal: The deal reflects continued investor appetite for managed IT services businesses that serve the European SME segment — a market where digital transformation, cybersecurity threats, and cloud migration are driving steady demand. Private equity and development capital players increasingly see these multi-service IT firms as attractive platforms for consolidation in a fragmented landscape.
