CredibleX raises $15M Series A led by Mubadala to fuel UAE SME lending
What's the deal? CredibleX, a UAE-based digital lender for small and medium-sized enterprises, has closed a $15M Series A equity round led by Mubadala Investment Company. Existing investor Further Ventures also participated.
Founded in 2023, CredibleX provides working capital to SMEs through a digital platform and a network of more than 70 partners. It operates under the Financial Services Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market, offering revenue-based financing, receivables financing, and payable financing.
The fresh capital will go toward expanding its platform, scaling partnerships, and building out its embedded finance infrastructure. The company also plans to invest in technology, data capabilities, and non-lending business lines.
Why now? CredibleX has been on an aggressive funding trajectory. In September 2025, it secured a $100M senior secured credit facility to back its lending operations. The Series A signals a shift from pure debt funding to equity growth capital — a sign the company is ready to scale beyond origination into platform and partnership expansion.
"This milestone represents strong validation of our vision to transform SME financing through embedded finance," said Anand Nagaraj, chief executive officer and co-founder.
What could go wrong? SME lending in emerging markets carries inherent credit risk, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty. Scaling through 70-plus partners adds distribution complexity, and embedded finance models depend heavily on the quality and reliability of those integrations.
The signal: Mubadala's involvement underscores growing sovereign wealth fund interest in fintech infrastructure across the Gulf. SME financing remains a massive underserved market in the region, and digital-first lenders that can embed their products into existing business workflows are attracting serious capital. CredibleX's raise reflects a broader trend of Gulf-based fintechs moving from proof of concept to institutional-grade scale.
