Nelson raises €3M to help companies electrify their vehicle fleets with AI
What's the deal? Nelson Mobility, a French startup that builds software to manage corporate fleet electrification, has raised €3M in a seed round led by Asterion Ventures. La Poste Ventures (managed by XAnge), EIT Urban Mobility, Climate Club, and strategic business angels also participated.
Founded in 2022 by four École Polytechnique engineers, Nelson uses AI, simulation algorithms, and digital twins to help large enterprises plan, deploy, and operate electric vehicle fleets. It currently manages over 50,000 vehicles across roughly 50 enterprise clients, including Orange, Schindler, and Dalkia (EDF).
Why now? Regulatory, fiscal, and ESG pressures are making fleet electrification unavoidable for European companies — but the transition remains technically and economically complex. Oil price volatility is adding urgency. France and Europe are doubling down on electrification as both a decarbonisation and sovereignty priority.
Nelson tripled its revenue in 2025, confirming product-market fit among large fleet operators. Many of its clients manage thousands or tens of thousands of vehicles and previously had no intelligent tool to guide the switch.
What could go wrong? Nelson positions itself as an independent trusted third party — unaffiliated with manufacturers, leasing companies, or charging operators. That independence is a selling point, but it also means the startup must compete without the distribution advantages that come with being embedded in a larger ecosystem. Scaling from 50,000 vehicles to its 2030 target of 100,000 electrified and managed vehicles across Europe will require significant expansion beyond France.
The signal: Fleet decarbonisation is a massive, under-addressed source of emissions. "Nelson finally brings an independent intelligence layer to make this transition manageable and profitable," said Juliette Delanoe, partner at Asterion Ventures. The round reflects growing investor appetite for climate-tech solutions that sit at the intersection of AI and operational infrastructure — tools that don't just measure emissions but actively reshape how companies operate.
The startup previously raised a €1.2M pre-seed in 2023. With this new funding, it plans to scale across France and then Europe, with a focus on its Nelson Charge product for charging infrastructure management.
