Publicit raises €700K to simplify programmatic ads for small businesses

What's the deal? Barcelona-based Publicit has raised €700,000 in a pre-seed round co-led by BStartup Banco Sabadell and Successful Fund, with participation from AticcoLab and several business angels from the Spanish technology and media sectors.

The startup has built a self-service advertising infrastructure designed to help smaller advertisers launch and manage omnichannel programmatic campaigns across multiple channels and inventory sources. It was founded by former CERN engineer Gabriel García Asensio alongside Andrés Buendía.

Why now? Programmatic advertising has long been dominated by complex platforms built for large agencies and brands with deep pockets and dedicated ad-ops teams. As more small and mid-sized businesses shift budgets to digital channels, there's growing demand for tools that make programmatic buying accessible without specialist expertise.

What could go wrong? The adtech space is notoriously crowded, and Publicit faces competition from established players that already serve the self-service market, including Google and Meta's own ad platforms. Convincing smaller advertisers to adopt a new, independent tool — rather than sticking with walled-garden defaults — will be a significant challenge.

At €700,000, the funding is modest. Scaling an infrastructure-heavy adtech product across multiple channels typically requires substantial capital, so the company will likely need to raise again soon.

The signal: The round reflects a broader European trend of early-stage investors backing tools that democratise capabilities previously reserved for enterprise players. In adtech specifically, there's a growing bet that the next wave of growth will come not from bigger brands spending more, but from millions of smaller businesses entering the programmatic ecosystem for the first time.
