Fexco invests in KSN Project Management to grow construction consultancy
What's the deal? Fexco, the Killorglin-based financial services group, has made a strategic investment in KSN Project Management (KSNPM), a construction consultancy operating in Ireland and the UK. The deal brings KSNPM into Fexco's business services division, expanding its footprint in property, the built environment, and sustainability.
KSNPM will continue to be led by managing director Mark O'Neill. The transaction is subject to approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).
KSNPM offers multi-disciplinary construction consultancy services for public and private infrastructure projects. It has supported the delivery of over 20,000 residential units, more than 200 capital estates programmes for educational institutions, and 12 major infrastructure packages — including drainage, water supply, roads, and public realm works within Strategic Development Zones.
Why now? Ireland is in the midst of a massive infrastructure push under the National Development Plan, with billions earmarked for housing, education, and transport. KSNPM has already partnered with government departments and third-level institutions to manage strategic projects, making it a natural fit for Fexco as demand for construction consultancy grows.
"Our investment brings KSNPM into Fexco Business Services, strengthening our shared go-to-market strategy and enhancing our ability to support customers in the delivery of critical infrastructure across Ireland and the UK," said Neil Hosty, chief executive officer of Fexco.
What could go wrong? The deal still needs CCPC clearance, and integrating a construction consultancy into a financial services group always carries execution risk. Cultural alignment — cited by both sides as a strength — will be tested as the two organisations work to combine operations and expand their customer offering.
The signal: Financial services firms are increasingly diversifying into adjacent sectors like property and sustainability consulting. Fexco's move reflects a broader trend of privately held companies using strategic acquisitions to build out business services platforms, particularly where public infrastructure spending creates sustained demand. For KSNPM, the partnership offers scale and resources to push into new markets beyond Ireland and the UK.
