Ammix Solutions takes stake in Epicuream to boost forestry fund growth

What's the deal? EpicureamDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a French asset management firm specialising in forestry investment funds, has opened its capital to Ammix Solutions. The deal brings Ammix's expertise in tangible asset management and a structured distribution network to accelerate Epicuream's commercial growth.

Epicuream manages Groupements Forestiers d'Investissement (GFI) — forestry investment funds — and holds an AMF (France's financial markets authority) licence granted in March 2021. Its flagship fund, Epiforêt 1, acquires and manages forest land across Europe.

Ammix Solutions is led by Grégory Le Blan, Romain Doligez, and Alexandre Odier, who bring experience in tangible asset valorisation through their work with property renovation firm Vargo Invest.

Why now? Investors are hunting for tangible, resilient assets amid financial market volatility. Forestry fits the bill: it is uncorrelated to stock markets, offers tax advantages on income tax, wealth tax, and inheritance, and benefits from surging demand for wood — up 20% in construction and petrochemicals, according to Epicuream president Philippe Chevrier.

France's forestry investment sector is now valued at several billion euros, reflecting growing institutional and retail appetite.

What could go wrong? Forestry is a long-term, illiquid asset class. Climate risks — wildfires, droughts, disease — pose real threats to forest portfolios. Regulatory changes to the tax incentives that make these funds attractive could also dampen investor interest.

Scaling distribution through a new partner network introduces execution risk. Aligning Ammix's property-focused DNA with Epicuream's forestry specialism will require careful governance.

The signal: Epicuream's early growth stage and its pursuit of a distribution partner rather than a traditional VC round underscores how niche alternative asset managers in Europe are turning to strategic, operationally aligned capital to scale. As investor appetite for nature-based, ESG-friendly assets grows, expect more consolidation plays in France's multi-billion-euro forestry investment market — particularly among small, licensed managers looking to punch above their weight in retail distribution.
