PANTA raises £3M to modernise the global index industry

What's the deal? PANTA, a London-based SaaS platform that automates how financial indices are built and managed, has raised £3M in seed funding. Fuel Ventures led with £1.5M, matched by a £1.5M Innovate UK Innovation Loan. The money will fund engineering hires, product development, and commercial scale-up ahead of a planned Series A in early 2027.

The company was founded by Tobias Sproehnle and Mark Pralle, both veterans of Markit, Morningstar, and the London Stock Exchange. Its platform replaces spreadsheets and legacy systems with an end-to-end tool that lets clients design, test, and launch indices in minutes — automating rebalancing, reporting, and compliance along the way.

Why now? The index industry underpins more than £9.1T in UK assets under management and over $120T globally, yet much of it still runs on manual workflows and outdated infrastructure. Growing demand for flexible, data-driven index products is putting pressure on providers to modernise — fast.

PANTA has already onboarded its first live clients and signed relationships with major strategic partners, positioning it to move from pilot phase to full-scale rollout.

What could go wrong? Selling enterprise software to financial institutions is notoriously slow. Regulatory complexity and incumbent inertia could drag out sales cycles, and a £3M seed round is modest for a sector where trust and compliance requirements are steep. The planned Series A will need to arrive on schedule to maintain momentum.

The signal: PANTA's round underscores a growing wave of fintech infrastructure investment targeting the overlooked plumbing behind capital markets — areas where manual processes still govern trillion-pound asset flows. Notably, half the round comes via an Innovate UK Innovation Loan, reflecting the UK government's direct stake in modernising financial market infrastructure as a competitive priority. With passive investing and custom indexing accelerating globally, the bottleneck is shifting from strategy to tooling — and early movers that can embed themselves in index providers' workflows stand to capture outsized long-term value.
