Swedish PR firm Bindefeld sells 30% stake to Gelba Management

What's the deal? Gelba Management, the investment vehicle of Swedish entrepreneur Per Taube, is acquiring 30% of PR agency Bindefeld Kommunikation. The deal reshapes the ownership of one of Sweden's well-known communications firms.

Founder Micael Bindefeld, who stepped down as chief executive earlier this year after more than 20 years, was previously the majority owner. After the transaction, Bindefeld and three other existing shareholders — Annika Hesselman, Dennis Jacobsson, and Filip Jarl — each hold 17.5%.

Gelba's chief executive Leif West will become Bindefeld's new board chair.

Why now? The ownership change follows Bindefeld's leadership transition. With the founder no longer running day-to-day operations, bringing in an external partner signals the agency's push to professionalise and scale beyond its founder-led origins.

Gelba Management holds stakes in real estate, hospitality, and events — including Arlandastad Group, Moment Group, and Sturebadet — making it a strategic fit for a firm built around meetings, events, and relationships.

What could go wrong? Founder-named agencies can struggle to evolve once the founder steps back. Bindefeld will need to prove its brand carries weight independent of Micael Bindefeld's personal profile. Integrating a partner from outside the communications industry also brings alignment risks.

The signal: The deal reflects a broader pattern in the Nordic agency market: founder-led firms seeking external capital and governance to secure long-term growth. Dennis Jacobsson, the current chief executive, said the partnership brings "stability, strength, and expertise" to improve processes and develop the agency's offering. Whether that translates into measurable growth will be the real test.
