AlixPartners acquires Canadian restructuring firm KSV in its first Canada deal

What's the deal? AlixPartners, the global consulting firm, has agreed to acquire KSV Advisory, a restructuring boutique based in Toronto and Calgary. The deal marks AlixPartners' first investment in the wider Canadian market and is expected to close around June 1, 2026.

All members of KSV's restructuring practice will join AlixPartners' turnaround and restructuring services (TRS) Americas team, including partners David Sieradzki, Mitch Vininsky, and Noah Goldstein. KSV co-founder Bobby Kofman will join as a senior adviser focused on restructuring roles, business development, and brand building in Canada.

The KSV team will operate under the AlixPartners brand immediately upon closing.

Why now? Rising interest rates and tighter credit conditions in recent years have fuelled a wave of corporate restructurings across North America. Canada's insolvency market has been particularly active, making a local presence increasingly valuable for global advisory firms looking to serve cross-border clients.

What could go wrong? Integrating a boutique firm into a global consultancy is never seamless. KSV built its reputation on close client relationships and nimble deal execution — qualities that can erode inside a larger organisation. Retaining key personnel beyond the transition period will be critical.

The signal: The deal reflects a broader consolidation trend in restructuring advisory. Global firms are snapping up specialist boutiques to expand geographic reach and capture growing demand for turnaround work. AlixPartners' move into Canada signals it sees the market as a long-term growth opportunity, not just a cyclical one.

"We have long admired from afar KSV's work, their in-market excellence and the immense quality of their people," said Jim Mesterharm, global co-head of AlixPartners' TRS practice. "Combining with KSV brings many benefits for our people and our clients, including enhanced career opportunities, greater geographic reach and further technical and operational strength and depth."
