Kepler Robotics raises tens of millions of yuan to deploy humanoid robots in China

What's the deal? Shanghai Kepler Robotics has completed a new strategic financing round worth tens of millions of yuan. The sole investor is Jiangyin Xia Chuang No. 1 Artificial Intelligence Investment Partnership, a fund jointly established by Jiangyin Xiake Bay Equity Investment Fund and Jiangyin High-Tech Venture Capital, backed by Jiangyin Industrial Development Group.

The funding will help Kepler accelerate large-scale deployment of industrial-grade humanoid robots across China's Yangtze River Delta region.

Why now? Kepler signed an agreement in March 2026 to establish operations in Xiakewan Science City. Its Jiangyin subsidiary has begun construction, with R&D and marketing teams already moving into local offices.

In April, the company announced a major strategic upgrade focused on "embodied intelligence" and force-tactile data collection — targeting three bottlenecks it sees in the industry: scarce physical interaction data, absent force-tactile perception, and weak model generalisation.

CEO Song Hua said the Jiangyin project is expected to launch applications in 10 to 20 industrial scenarios, accelerating the transition of humanoid robots from lab to production line.

What could go wrong? Humanoid robots remain expensive and unproven at scale in industrial settings. Kepler claims an 80% self-sufficiency rate for core components — covering mechanical design, force-tactile perception, and control algorithms — but translating lab capabilities into reliable factory-floor performance is a different challenge entirely.

The company's K2 "Bumblebee" robot promises heavy-load operation, long endurance, and low-cost deployment across manufacturing, warehouse logistics, and special operations. Whether those claims hold up in 10 to 20 real-world scenarios will be the true test.

The signal: China's humanoid robotics sector is attracting a growing wave of regional government-backed capital. This deal illustrates a pattern: municipal industrial groups co-investing alongside venture funds to lure robotics companies into local manufacturing hubs.

Kepler's full-stack, in-house approach — building its own multimodal perception model (VTLA) and brain-inspired system (KeplerBrain) — reflects a broader push among Chinese robotics firms to own the entire technology stack rather than rely on external suppliers. As competition intensifies, the companies that can actually ship working robots into factories will separate from those still stuck in demo mode.
