Topicus acquires Lighthouse Software to expand digital healthcare measurement

What's the deal? Dutch IT company Topicus acquired the operations of Lighthouse Software on May 1, 2026. Lighthouse is the company behind QuestManager, a platform for digital questionnaires and outcome measurements used by healthcare organisations to track treatment results and patient experience.

The deal brings QuestManager into Topicus Healthcare's portfolio, adding specialised measurement capabilities to its existing suite of IT solutions for the healthcare sector. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"With QuestManager, we are adding a strong and proven solution to our portfolio," said Hugo Brand, director of Topicus Healthcare. "Together with them, we will continue to build on the product's success, leveraging the innovations and possibilities that technology offers us today and tomorrow."

Why now? Healthcare providers increasingly rely on digital tools to measure outcomes and patient satisfaction — data that regulators, insurers, and patients themselves demand. Combining Lighthouse's questionnaire expertise with Topicus's broader healthcare IT infrastructure positions the merged entity to serve that growing need more effectively.

Lighthouse director Marcel Kok said the deal would "expand our market reach and be able to implement innovations in our products even more effectively."

What could go wrong? Topicus has promised that nothing will change for Lighthouse customers in the short term — same contacts, same services. But integration always carries risk. Merging teams, aligning product roadmaps, and maintaining service quality during transitions can strain both companies, especially if priorities diverge.

The signal: This acquisition fits a broader pattern of vertical software consolidation in European healthcare. Specialist point solutions are being absorbed by larger platform players that can offer end-to-end workflows. For healthcare IT buyers, that means fewer vendors but potentially deeper integration. For niche software makers, it signals that building a strong product in a narrow domain remains a viable path — even if the exit is a bolt-on acquisition rather than independent scale.
