Roboxi raises €13M to scale AI-powered airport automation
What's the deal? Roboxi AS, a Norwegian startup building AI-driven automation for airport airside operations, has raised approximately €13 million in new equity. The company said it will use the capital to scale operations, deliver on committed contracts, and invest in further innovation.
Founded in 2018, Roboxi develops systems for runway, taxiway, and apron management. Its portfolio includes what it describes as the first AI-based system for detecting and removing foreign object debris from airside areas, along with tools for spotting faults in airport lighting, high-speed 3D laser surface inspection, and wildlife detection.
Why now? The share issue, completed on May 19, 2026, drew strong demand from both new and existing investors, most based in Norway's Rogaland region. Chief executive Magnus O. Finnesand called the raise "an important milestone" that would help the company deliver on "already committed and expected contracts."
Roboxi has built partnerships with major international airports including Schiphol and Frankfurt, suggesting growing demand for automation on the airside — one of the most operationally complex parts of any airport.
What could go wrong? Airport infrastructure is a heavily regulated, slow-moving market. Roboxi developed its technology in collaboration with Avinor and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority, but scaling internationally means navigating a patchwork of safety standards and procurement cycles across different jurisdictions.
The signal: Airports are under mounting pressure to improve safety and efficiency without proportionally increasing headcount. AI-powered automation on the airside — from debris detection to surface inspection — addresses a genuine operational gap. Board chairman Knut Molaug said the investor interest "validates Roboxi's vision, technology, and the strong momentum we are experiencing in the market." If that momentum holds, the company could help set the standard for how airports manage their most critical ground-level operations.
