Rentokil Initial acquires Smart Hygiene to expand Austrian pest control operations

Smart Hygiene is an established provider of pest control and building protection services that has served private and business customers for more than 20 years. The acquisition gives Rentokil Initial Austria access to an expanded specialist team, a broader service network, and additional building protection capabilities.
Why now? The deal involved three separate sellers with conflicting interests and required a pre-closing corporate reorganisation of Smart Hygiene's group — complexity that took months to resolve. Rentokil Initial plc has long pursued a buy-and-build strategy, snapping up local operators to consolidate fragmented pest control and hygiene markets across Europe.
