Entrio acquires Gigs Tix to consolidate Southeast Europe's ticketing market
What's the deal? Croatian ticketing platform Entrio has acquired Gigs Tix, one of the most recognised ticketing brands in Serbia and Montenegro, to become the dominant player in Southeast Europe's live events industry. The deal follows Entrio's recent takeover of Ulaznice.hr, another Croatian ticketing platform, signalling an aggressive regional rollup strategy.
Gigs Tix brings more than 18 years of experience and a track record managing ticket sales for EXIT Festival and major international tours by artists like Madonna, Ed Sheeran, Metallica, and Depeche Mode. Combined, the Entrio group now claims to have no real competitor in the region by reach and capacity.
Why now? Southeast Europe's live events scene has grown rapidly, with festivals and international tours increasingly routing through the region. Entrio appears to be consolidating while the market is still fragmented — snapping up established local players before a larger European or global ticketing giant moves in.
The acquisition also lets Entrio introduce what it calls a higher level of operational, technological, and security standards across its expanded footprint.
What could go wrong? Becoming the region's near-monopoly ticketing platform invites scrutiny. Dominant market positions in ticketing have drawn regulatory and consumer backlash elsewhere — most notably Ticketmaster in the US. If Entrio raises fees or limits competition, organisers and fans could push back.
Integration risk is real too. Merging multiple platforms with different tech stacks, cultures, and markets is notoriously difficult, especially across borders with varying regulations.
The signal: Entrio's back-to-back acquisitions — first Ulaznice.hr, now Gigs Tix — represent a classic regional rollup playbook by an early-growth stage company racing to lock in market share before better-capitalised competitors arrive. Southeast Europe's ticketing infrastructure remains highly fragmented compared to Western Europe, where consolidation around a handful of dominant platforms happened years ago, making it fertile ground for a local champion to build defensible scale quickly.
