Calico France acquires GedZilla to bolster its document management portfolio

What's the deal? Calico France, part of the European document management group Calico IIM, has acquired GedZilla — a French SaaS-based electronic document management (EDM) solution created in 2020. GedZilla serves accountants, businesses, and local authorities, offering cloud-based tools to digitise, centralise, and automate document workflows. Its cloud infrastructure is hosted in France.

Calico France was formerly known as JLB Informatique, founded in 1981, and joined the Calico IIM group in 2025. GedZilla's application is priced from €39.90 per month excluding tax, with no commitment required.

Why now? The acquisition expands Calico IIM's portfolio alongside FileStream, a UK-based EDM player, and LM-Kit, an internal unit that offers a secure local AI environment for .NET developers. The group plans to inject AI capabilities developed by LM-Kit into GedZilla's platform, with future development handled by Calico France's enterprise content management team.

GedZilla was founded just five years ago, and folding its development into a larger team could slow innovation or alienate existing customers accustomed to its agile approach.
