Livestorm makes first acquisition, buys Qlip AI to add video editing
What's the deal? Livestorm, the French webinar platform, is marking its 10th anniversary with its first-ever acquisition. It has bought Paris-based Qlip AI, which specialises in AI-powered video processing. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal will power a new product called Livestorm AI Studio, which automatically transforms webinar replays into short video clips, summaries, and publish-ready content. Users can expect it this summer.
Qlip AI co-founder Pamela Carvallo has been named Livestorm's director of AI.
Why now? Livestorm co-founder and chief executive officer Gilles Bertaux framed the move as a natural evolution. "Ten years ago, we created Livestorm because we were convinced webinars were a powerful channel but badly served by existing software. Today, we're making the same bet on AI," he said. "Marketing professionals should spend their time on strategy, not video editing."
The company sees an untapped opportunity: most marketers still don't use AI to repurpose webinars into multiple formats like video clips, sales decks, or articles.
What could go wrong? Livestorm rode a massive wave during COVID-19 lockdowns, which pushed companies toward virtual events and webinar tools. It raised €25M in 2020 during that boom. The post-pandemic slowdown in virtual event demand makes this pivot to AI-driven content tools a bet on renewed relevance — but the video editing space is crowded, with incumbents and AI-native startups competing fiercely.
The signal: Livestorm sits at the "early growth" stage according to Dealroom, making this acquisition a notable move for a company still scaling — M&A is typically the playbook of later-stage SaaS firms. The bet is that AI-powered content repurposing can reignite growth after the post-pandemic cooldown in virtual event demand, transforming Livestorm from a single-use webinar tool into a broader content platform that justifies its €25 million in prior funding.
