Nomos acquires Gamma, targets US$3.84B in assets by 2026

What's the deal? Brazilian investment advisory firm Nomos has acquired Gamma, an XP-affiliated office managing US$204.7M in assets and roughly 3,500 clients. The deal lifts Nomos's total assets under custody to US$2.81B and marks its latest move in an aggressive buy-and-build strategy that previously absorbed firms R5, ETR, and MyCAP.

Nomos is targeting US$3.84B in assets under management by the end of 2026.

Why now? Brazil's investment advisory market is consolidating fast. Independent firms are racing to build scale, broaden product offerings, and lock in clients across wealth management, M&A, credit, insurance, and succession planning. Nomos is betting that a vertically integrated platform — combining advisory with corporate and estate solutions — will be the winning model.

Paulo Hegg, Nomos's co-founder, describes the current moment as an intense transformation cycle for the sector. Gamma founders Victor Cavaglieri and Thomas Ricco cited cultural alignment as a decisive factor in closing the deal.

What could go wrong? Merging firms with different histories and methodologies is never seamless. Cultural friction, client attrition, and service disruptions are real risks — especially when the combined entity serves thousands of clients across multiple service layers.

Scale can also erode what many clients value most: personalised attention. Maintaining that standard while integrating successive acquisitions will test Nomos's operational capacity.

The signal: The deal reflects a broader maturation of Brazil's retail financial ecosystem. As advisory platforms consolidate, expect higher compliance standards, better governance, and more sophisticated product access for individual investors. But it also signals a market where smaller independent firms may struggle to compete without joining a larger group — accelerating the cycle further.
