CMC Group acquires majority stake in its German dealer to build DACH hub

What's the deal? Italy-based CMC Group, a spider lift manufacturer, has finalised the acquisition of a majority stake in CMC ArbeitsbühnenDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → GmbH & Co. KG — its long-standing official dealer in Germany — and in Equipment Service, a German technical service company. The combined entity, CMC Deutschland, will serve as the commercial and logistics hub for the entire DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).

Existing managing director Dieter Roters stays on to lead the new structure, ensuring operational continuity. The deal was driven by the Metrika fund alongside CMC's founding families, Moretti and Mastrogiacomo.

Why now? The acquisition is part of CMC Group's broader internationalisation strategy, which aims to bring sales and after-sales activities under a single operational structure in key markets. The DACH region is one of Europe's largest markets for aerial work platforms, making a direct, integrated presence there a priority.

"The DACH area is a key market for us, and the creation of CMC Deutschland enables us to serve it with a solid, integrated structure focused on long-term growth," said Stefano Di Santo, chief executive officer of CMC Group.

What could go wrong? Integrating a dealer and a service company into one hub always carries execution risk — aligning teams, systems, and customer relationships takes time. CMC will also need to prove that centralising operations improves rather than slows service in a region where customers expect high responsiveness.

The signal: CMC Arbeitsbühnen, classified as an early-growth company on Dealroom, now moves from independent dealer to majority-owned subsidiary — a trajectory that reflects how niche industrial manufacturers are vertically integrating distribution as they mature. The involvement of the Metrika fund suggests private equity is betting that consolidating fragmented dealer networks in specialised equipment markets can unlock meaningful margin and scale across Europe's largest economies.
