What's the deal? Urban Gym GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (UGG) has acquired Vondelgym Rotterdam, marking its 50th TrainmoreDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → location in the Netherlands. The site will be rebranded as Trainmore Rotterdam de Meent, operating as a TrainMore Black Label club.
The revamped gym will add reformer Pilates, a multifunctional training zone, Hyrox facilities, and a dedicated red-light therapy and recovery area. Members will also get inclusive perks like coffee, protein shakes, and sports water.
Why now? UGG has been expanding through a mix of organic growth and acquisitions in major Dutch cities. Vondelgym Rotterdam's performance-focused culture made it a natural fit for the Trainmore brand, which is built on giving members a €1 discount per workout.
The company is also eyeing international growth — it plans to bring Trainmore to London soon.
"We're actively looking for new opportunities," said Neil Randall. "We welcome conversations with developers, landlords and gym owners with strong urban locations who are interested in long-term partnerships."
What could go wrong? Expanding into London puts UGG in one of Europe's most competitive and expensive fitness markets. The UK capital is saturated with budget chains, boutique studios, and hybrid concepts — all vying for the same urban demographic Trainmore targets.
The signal: UGG's move to 50 Dutch locations — and its planned London launch — underscores how breakout-stage fitness operators are scaling through acquisition-led consolidation rather than purely organic site buildouts. With both UGG and TrainMore classified at the breakout growth stage, the group is betting that a multi-brand, lifestyle-driven model can translate beyond a home market where it already dominates prime urban footprints.
