Redkite Solicitors acquires Penarth-based Alan Simons & Co
What's the deal? Redkite Solicitors, a top 200 UK law firm with 19 offices across Wales and the South West, has acquired Alan Simons & Co, a legal practice based in Penarth. The deal strengthens Redkite's presence in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Chris Davison, formerly a partner at Alan Simons & Co, joins Redkite as a partner. The Penarth office will stay open, and existing clients will continue to be served by the same team.
"What matters most is that clients in Penarth will continue to see the same trusted people and the same personalised service, now supported by the strength and breadth of a larger firm," said Neil Walker, chief executive officer at Redkite Solicitors.
Why now? The acquisition is part of Redkite's broader strategy to expand its footprint across Wales and the South West. With 19 offices already, the firm is steadily consolidating smaller practices to widen its geographic reach and service offering.
What could go wrong? Integration is always the risk with acquisitions of small, community-rooted firms. Alan Simons & Co has built local relationships over many years, and any disruption to the team or service quality could push clients elsewhere.
The signal: Mid-market law firm consolidation continues apace in the UK regions. Larger firms are snapping up smaller practices to gain local footholds without starting from scratch — betting that familiar faces plus deeper resources is a winning formula for clients who value both personal service and breadth of expertise.
