Healthcare PE firm Amulet Capital acquires UK fertility group TFP

What's the deal? Amulet Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm focused exclusively on healthcare, has acquired TFP Fertility Group — one of the leading fertility care providers in the UK and northern Europe. TFP was sold by Benefit Street Partners (BSP), a Franklin Templeton company. Financial terms were not disclosed.

TFP operates 10 fertility clinics and 21 satellite referral centres across the UK and Poland. The company will continue under its existing brand and leadership, with chief executive officer Jude Fleming and the current management team staying on.

Why now? BSP said the "successful investment and repositioning of TFP" under its ownership is now complete, signalling the business was prepped for sale. For Amulet, fertility services fit squarely within its strategy of backing healthcare platforms that can scale — a thesis it has applied to other fertility provider businesses before.

Demand for fertility treatment continues to rise across Europe, driven by shifting demographics, later family planning, and expanding insurance coverage in some markets. That tailwind makes fertility platforms attractive acquisition targets for healthcare-focused PE firms.

What could go wrong? Private equity ownership of fertility clinics draws scrutiny. Critics worry that profit incentives can conflict with patient care — particularly in a field where vulnerable patients face emotionally and financially high-stakes decisions. TFP will need to demonstrate that new investment improves access and outcomes rather than simply boosting margins.

Regulatory environments also differ between the UK and Poland, adding complexity to any expansion plans.

The signal: The deal reflects a broader wave of PE consolidation in European fertility services. As demographic trends push demand higher, investors see fragmented clinic networks as prime roll-up opportunities. Amulet's acquisition suggests that healthcare-specialist PE firms are willing to pay up for platforms with strong clinical reputations and multi-market footprints — even without disclosed pricing, the strategic logic is clear.
